Another fantastic retreat

An important part of Spirit of Harmony's contest preparation every year is our retreat - a residential weekend during which we rehearse, run workshops, and socialise.

This year's retreat saw us return to the York Racecourse Center.

One of the highlights of the weekend is always our Saturday night 'scratch octet' competition, in which small groups are selected randomly from the chorus members to perform a repertoire song.

We were very fortunate this year to be coached by Rob Barber - a gold medallist quartet singer and past director of the National Barbershop Youth Chorus, and Tuxedo Junction. We're very grateful for the excellent work we did with Rob.

Sadly, this was the last time we will be using the York Racecourse Center for our retreat, as the chorus is starting to outgrow the venue! We thanked the staff and volunteers who have fed and looked after us so well over the years.
